3D fever started from TV is spreading to various IT devices, including mobile device. In particular, unlike TV, because IT devices is used by a single user, glasses-free display adopted products are increasing, rather than cumbersome 3D.

FPR method glasses 3D technology leading LG Electronics has introduced glasses-free LCD monitor, DX2500. Until now, glasses-free 3D technology has been limited to mobile devices, and large-area products have been opened to public through the exhibitions or order production. LG Electronics glasses-free 3D monitor is a mass production product, and it is the first product easy for general consumers to purchase.

3D technology applied to the product is slanted parallax barrier technology, one of parallax technologies, and head tracking technology, which has compensated changes in viewing locations with S/W by recognizing users’ face through the webcam located on the front of monitor. Also, in the case of 3D panel, 3D module is done by LG Electronics conducting module process on LG Display Cell.

Displaybank has analyzed the structure, cost, major parts suppliers of ‘LG Electronics Glasses-free 3D Monitor – DX2500.’ The market price of the actual product has been priced at KRW 1,290,000 and distributed at a lower price in the distribution market. It has not been released internationally yet, but if it does, the price is expected to be under US$1,000.
