Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) today reported that unconsolidated net sales for the third quarter 2006 amounted to NT$ 48,176 million, a 32% increase over the previous quarter’s NT$ 36,395 million. Gross profit totaled NT$ 2,198 million which translated into a gross margin of 4.6%. Operating loss was NT$ 878 million with a net loss of NT$ 1.4 billion. Operating and net margins were -1.8% and -2.9%, respectively. EPS equaled NT$ -0.27.
Strong seasonal demand resulted in a strong growth in shipments in the third quarter. On an unconsolidated basis, the company shipped 9.2 million panels, representing a sequential growth of 31% over the 7 million panels in the second quarter and leading to a significant decline in inventory turnover days. As the percentage of large-sized TV panel increased and the ASP of several monitor products rebounded, blended ASP was USD$ 161, at a similar level as the second quarter
